Academic
Business Subjects
Business is offered in CBC as an optional subject at Junior Cycle level. The Junior Cycle business syllabus is divided into four sections, as follows:
| Section One | The Business of Living |
| Section Two | Economic Awareness |
| Section Three | Enterprise |
| Section Four | Information Technology |
In second year students get the opportunity to exercise and demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills by taking part in the student enterprise awards.
You can find more information for the student enterprise awards on the following website. www.studententerprise.ie
At leaving cert level Business separates into 3 subject areas.
- Business
- Economics
- Accounting
Entry into the senior cycle subjects of Business, Economics and Accounting is in no way affected by the level undertaken at Junior Certificate. In fact, it is not necessary to have taken Business Studies at all.
The skills learned in business subjects have a wide range of practical applications. What is learned here can prepare students for successful careers in marketing and management jobs, for all clerical, administrative and business careers, for advertising and executive jobs in industry or apprenticeships, for civil service and local government jobs, among many, many more.
The Business Department is comprised of Ms. O’Toole, Mr. Montayne and Ms. McHugh.
